Position Summary: This position will operate tractors and other field equipment, plant, fertilize, cultivate, spray, and harvest in support of research and non-research related crops. Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment. Perform backup facilities maintenance at the Kimberly R&E Center. Contribute to team effort by creating a work environment that emphasizes teamwork and safety.
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience in the operation of farm implements for tillage, planting, spraying, cultivation, and harvesting.
Experience with a variety of crops.
Experience maintaining and repairing a variety of diesel and gasoline powered farm equipment and vehicles.
Experience with farm chemicals and their use.
Experience irrigating by sprinkler and surface methods.
Associate degree or higher in agricultural related field.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively.
Experience in welding, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
Computer record-keeping skills.
Knowledge of good safety practices.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Ability to carry, lift and/or otherwise move items weighing up to 80 pounds.
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
Must possess a valid drivers license.
Must be able to pass Defensive Driving and a Drivers Record Check.
Possess a Private Applicators License and Chemigation or be willing to obtain both within 6 months.
Ability to work overtime, occasional alternative hours and some weekends when needed.
