The Talent Acquisition Partner will be primarily responsible for managing all of Campus Dining recruitment process for open positions for professional and hourly, unionized positions with an emphasis on building a diverse pipeline and providing consultative support to hiring managers. Partnering with Campus Dining leadership to focus on measuring and understanding specific retention strategies that impact Campus Dining employees and strategizing plans to improve overall retention and reduce turnover. Campus Dining comprises 55+ management professionals, 300 unionized staff, and 100 student workers in residential dining halls, retail locations, markets, and cafes conveniently located across campus and a full catering & events and athletic concessions operation. This position will work with Campus Dining, central Human Resources, other HR institutional partners to contribute to Auxiliary Service's positive and inclusive work environment and improve organizational effectiveness, drive results, and ensure HR processes are communicated and implemented well.
Duties and Responsibilities
Managing full-cycle recruitment including the ability to source and market for specific positions, assessment, and filtering of candidates, improving recruitment processes, effectively onboard new hires, building a talent pipeline, and partnering to provide educational learning opportunities.
- Identify candidates for key dining openings and be responsible for building and managing relationships to understand the needs of the hiring manager and candidate qualifications that will drive quicker selection and placement of high-quality candidates for Campus Dining which includes:
- Managing and reviewing resumes to provide the hiring manager/search committee with well-qualified candidates.
- Develop and coordinate Campus Dining recruitment cycle (ie, peak/low season) to optimize filling key openings.
- Collaborate with the hiring manager/search committee throughout the selection process to define the process, and provide selection support such as interview questions, etc.
- Source and influence passive candidates to consider new employment opportunities.
- Partner with HR Talent team to manage recruitment processes and applicant tracking system (ie, background check, onboarding process, I-9 process, etc.).
- Develop talent acquisition strategies and collaborate with the central Human Resources team, Campus Dining leadership including marketing and hiring managers, and other key stakeholders to sustain the strategy and properly brand Vanderbilt Dining in various job markets. Manage the design and placement of inclusive job advertisements as well as establish proactive, comprehensive, diversity-focused digital media marketing campaigns specific to campus dining applicants working to target both active and passive job seekers.
- Partner with various leadership teams and HR to report status, outcomes, and identify opportunities to address future staffing concerns. Establish intentional planning sessions to prepare for future staffing needs.
- Drives new ways to approach networking, recruitment, talent development, and retention.
- Problem solves by utilizing data and analytical thinking to collaborate with the teams to execute and manage strategic best practices for recruitment and narrowing talent gaps and increasing retention.
- In partnership with Central HR Recruitment, develop and improve recruitment processes and efficiencies specific to the unique needs of Campus Dining that will have a long-term positive impact on the overall efficacy of Campus Dining workforce management which includes:
- Providing recommendations for and managing an efficient and effective screening and interview process.
- Evaluate each search based on feedback from the hiring manager and implement recommendations and improvements as appropriate.
- Generate reporting from various systems to monitor key metrics such as days to fill, applicant pool demographics, etc. Compile and analyze recruitment trends and provide regular updates on job posting locations.
- Partner with hiring managers to clarify and enhance job postings, advertising materials, and overall recruitment strategies to attract diverse pools of qualified candidates.
- Provide training to the hiring team on applicable subjects related to Talent Acquisition.
- Build a pipeline of well-qualified, diverse talent through proactive sourcing activities social networking, industry connections, community organizations, etc. Be the owner of relationship management with community partners which includes:
- Participating in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, training, projects and further assisting the hiring managers and Campus Dining team on inclusionary practices.
- Participate in team meetings, committees, professional development activities, and other divisional initiatives (if applicable).
- Travel to recruitment and community events, as needed to ensure Campus Dining's presence and networking.
- Develop Measurable Comprehensive Retention Strategies
- Working with Campus Dining leaders, provide retention metrics and/or dashboard and regularly and review for trends and patterns
- Develop long-term retention strategies focusing on the CD employees needs specifically.
- Working with CD leadership to mobilize retention strategies that will help hit retention metric goals and provide regular update/measure of success
- Create feedback mechanisms for CD new hire employees to provide regular, ongoing feedback throughout the hiring process and their 30.60. 90 day check-points.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of human resources or related field, with at least 2 years of full-cycle recruitment and talent acquisition experience in building successful candidate profiles, establishing rapport, appropriate candidate assessment and decision-making, and effectively selling, negotiating, and closing.
- Management/ organizational skills while operating in a flexible manner.
- Experienced PC user: Windows-based software, experience with Word and Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) including social media platforms and yielding applicable data.
- Proven track record as a strong and effective recruiter.
- Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) or similar database (Database/tools related to applicant tracking/reviewing/ presenting/ researching data).
- Experience recruiting for foodservice and hospitality related fields.
- Expertise in sourcing and influencing passive candidates to consider new employment opportunities is necessary.
- Experience partnering with leadership on retention strategies and implementation
- Proactively creates a strong foundation of relationship building that yields positive results for the organization.
- Lead recruiting efforts with reliable data, to work with cross-functional departments, customer, and client driven etc.
- Ability to navigate change effectively by working with all levels of staff, while operating in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to develop campus dining specific recruitment and retention dashboards and use data driven business intelligence to make strategic recruitment decisions.
Working Conditions
This position may require individuals to be comfortable working remotely, attending virtual meetings via video chat, zoom, and mobile devices. This role will be hybrid, and we offer flexibility, however there will be a varying degree of on-campus presence. The incumbent will be commuting 2-3 days a week to campus for meetings with hiring managers and job applicants with the understanding that expectation could fluctuate depending on overall business needs.
