Job Duties: The Equipment Technician will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of all turf equipment for the golf course, the golf car fleet, and some light building repair and maintenance. The Equipment Technician may be asked to assist in cultural practices on the grounds as needed. Other duties will include purchasing, record keeping, maintaining stock and inventory, and assistance with budgeting and planning as it pertains to job requirements. Offseason duties may include assisting on the maintenance of the TRMF vehicle fleet, or any other areas as needed and as time permits. This position needs to be a self-motivated individual with good organizational skills and the ability to perform independently for much of the workday. Applicants can expect a seasonal shift in which more time is asked for during the golf season (40-50 hrs/week), than during the slower months of winter and fall (32-40 hrs/week).
Specific requirements: Accurate record keeping and reporting. Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program and minimize equipment downtime. Candidates must be able to work within budget, and contribute to tracking expenses. Maintain a grinding program to keep cutting units performing and maintaining a quality of cut for maximum performance. Be active in participation of crew training and safety program.
Skills: Small engine repair, familiarity with diesel and gasoline powered equipment, ability to weld and fabricate. Knowledge of turf related equipment and both reel and rotary style mowing equipment. An overall attention to detail is desired. Some general knowledge of golf is a plus.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some form of secondary education in fabrication and mechanical repair a plus. Some literacy in computer and current technology would be helpful.
