Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, John Stach, the Head Mechanic will assist/and or work independently in the repair and maintenance of all equipment, produce paperwork necessary to ensure proper documentation and provide accurate record keeping. The Head Mechanic will comprehend the total functions of the maintenance facility and be able to work efficiently and independently and, in the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent oversee the equipment shop operation.
Position requires the individual to maintain flexible availability, will work weekends and holidays and may be required to return to the job site at odd hours under emergency situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in golf course mechanics.
Requires working knowledge and proficiency in operation and repair of all types of golf course equipment including diesel and gasoline engines, electric motors and systems, hydraulic systems theory and repair, automotive type vehicles, cooling systems, mower reel and bedknife sharpening tools and techniques.
Requires the ability to read, troubleshoot and correctly interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Requires a general knowledge of and/or the ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.
Basic knowledge of agronomy but not required
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The individual must have the ability to read and comprehend instructions. They must also have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES
Requires a valid State of Florida Drivers License.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
