Equipment Managers Position

The Equipment Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the clubs $2 million dollars of equipment assets.

The Equipment Manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair to the Golf Course Superintendent and/or the Senior Assistant Superintendent. 

The Equipment Manager places safety and quality cutting units as a top priority, as well as responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance build.

Functions_______________________________________________________________               

• Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various turf maintenance equipment, including diesel, electric and gasoline powered vehicles, trucks, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, hand tools and other mechanical equipment used in utility work.
• Instructs, mentors and trains the maintenance staff regarding preventative maintenance as well as the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
• Prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work.
• Maintains a preventative maintenance program with budget on all equipment and purchase repair parts and replacement supplies.
• Keeps a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventative maintenance of all equipment.
• Spot check equipment for performance on the course. Observe your work on the golf course. Make emergency repairs to equipment on the golf course if required.
• Oversees the monitoring and purchasing of fuels and oils.
• Utilizes web-based software to record maintenance records.
• Responsible for the organization and care of the equipment facilities. Cleanliness and organization are a must for this position.
• Participates in snow removal duties during the winter months.
• Assists in the purchasing and selection of new turf equipment
• Attends and participates in Grounds Department Staff meetings.
• Participates in and supports all Minikahda Club initiatives and programs requested by management.
• Teams with other Minikahda departments to ensure exemplary customer service and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Able to be available on select weekends for tournaments, Flexible to work weekends of needed. Available to work overtime if the job requires it. 
• Be a team player and help where needed even if it may fall out of your normal job requirements. A Whatever It Takes Attitude.
• Available to assist with snow removal and winter activities on weekends (planned schedule)

Employee Standards_________________________________________________________________

• Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses.
• Skill in the use of a variety of repair tools and the making of various types of mechanical repair.
• A working knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines and reel mowing equipment.
• Possess a high attention to detail.
• A thorough understanding, knowledge and practice of reel/bedknife set-up, grinding and maintenance using Foley reel and bedknife grinders. The highest level of quality cutting is required every day.
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
• Ability to move, lift heavy objects.
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine the appropriate maintenance work.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain business records.
• Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing condition of the golf game.
• Possession of a valid Minnesota driver’s license.
