Merion Golf Club is looking for an Assistant Equipment Manager. The Assistant Equipment Manager reports directly to the Equipment Manager. The Assistant Equipment Manager assists and/or works independently of the Equipment Manager in the repairing and maintenance of various gasoline and diesel-powered golf course maintenance equipment.
Communicates any needs or problems relating to maintenance or repair of equipment with the equipment manager and/or superintendent.
Assists in the Inspection, diagnoses, adjustments and repairs of mechanical defects/failures in various pieces of golf course maintenance equipment on a regular basis.
Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed.
Repairs and adjusts engines and cutting mechanisms on various heavy and light mowing equipment.
Keeps maintenance equipment oiled and inspected; and performs related tasks as required.
Perform all other tasks and duties assigned by the supervisor.

About the Equipment Manager:
The equipment manager Robert Smith has an apprentice program that has earned an excellent reputation across the country. During his 12 seasons at Merion, he has mentored nine turf technicians and placed them into Equipment Manager positions around the country. The employees started as entry-level greenkeepers and were eventually promoted to technicians, learning in his apprenticeship program. After two-to-four years of experience with Robert, they were prepared to take on responsibility for their own fleet of turfgrass equipment. Robert was recognized by his peers and named, “Turf Net Equipment Manager of the Year.”
Golf course experience preferred
Working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline, diesel and electric powered equipment; the proper methods of servicing golf course equipment; and the repair and adjustment of power mowing equipment
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
Mechanical ability; ability to use common mechanical tools
Ability to follow oral and written directions
Has the ability to lift products/equipment up to 50 lbs. above shoulders
Has the ability to walk at a pace of 2.5 miles / hour operation equipment continually for a period of 3-5 hours.
Ability to spend extended period of time bending over equipment, and working under equipment
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.
