Patrol outlying areas of 35,000 acre research station. Deter vandals and trespassers. Observe and deal with livestock when safety of animals or the public dictates. Check gasoline supply sources to ensure daily security after working hours. Check all buildings to ensure doors are secured. Check service buildings to ensure that personnel are authorized and that secured areas are locked after normal working hours. Assist USMARC employees in obtaining assistance from Herd Health personnel or others as required. Walk through designated buildings to detect physical plant malfunctions. Observe and report unsafe conditions due to maintenance, lighting and/or design. Check boiler room areas for pressure alarms and notify appropriate personnel upon detection. Primary shift will be 4:00pm until 12:30am, 5 days/week.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
High school plus one year of experience in a position involving security, or production agriculture, or IT/Electronics required; equivalent combination of education/experience considered. Demonstrated decision-making skill essential. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Training and/or experience in the following fields is helpful: IT Systems, Electronics, Animal Husbandry, Mechanized Agriculture, Public Safety, Institutional Building Mechanics, Security/Law Enforcement preferred. Graduate of State of Nebraska LETA (Grand Island) preferred.
